Kate Evans
My name is Kate, and I’m a Cornwall-based loss and bereavement therapist. I work in person and online with people who are experiencing loss.
As a therapist and coach, I’ve had many years of experience supporting people through bereavement in its many forms. Grief can begin with shock, and many people feel denial, anger and depression before finding some peace and acceptance. But that’s not always the case; everyone’s relationship with loss is different, and I also work with individuals and families experiencing the pre-grief triggered by a medical diagnosis, helping them find emotional empowerment in destabilising circumstances.
I specialise working with neurodivergence in bereavement and the impact this can have. Together we can find a tailored solution to support the process.
In a typical session, we’ll talk about current issues exploring long-term goals, mapping out where you’d like to get to and breaking that down into short-term goals. While we can’t plan our emotions, a plan can support us through emotionally challenging times, especially when a loss triggers deep-rooted thoughts and feelings linked to our history, relationships and family dynamics.
Having experienced loss myself, I have core empathy with anyone who is beginning their grieving process, understanding there is a way forward. Having core empathy, I can understand from my life experience, creating a safe professional place, working side-by-side in your time frame.
Working in parallel, we can process the thoughts and feelings grief triggers individually enabling a way forward.

“Core empathy means I can walk in your shoes, not by telling or opinionating based on my past, but by working side by side.”
